When someone you love is in recovery, you’re on the journey too.

Embertide runs the daily watch on your family member — the check-in, the peer-chat tone, the missed-touch signal, the rising trajectory — so the monitor is not the relationship. You get family-appropriate visibility only over the parts the member has consented to share, and your role is to be the calm supporter on the rung above the responder chain, not the responder yourself.

How Embertide watches the member — and keeps you informed

The watch runs on Embertide. The relationship runs on you.

Families are not on the responder chain, and they are not asked to monitor. Three things Embertide does so you do not have to: the daily watch on the member, the family-appropriate visibility surface, and the escalation ordering that keeps your role above the clinical cascade rather than inside it.

  1. 01
    Daily watch on the member

Embertide watches the member so you do not have to police them

A daily check-in, peer-chat tone, and missed-touch pattern fuse into one rising-risk surface per member. The watch is on Embertide — you are not the one counting the days between texts. Instead of monitoring, you get to be a relative again.

  2. 02
    Family-appropriate visibility

You see what the member has consented to share — nothing else

Families are added via Family tier seats, and what crosses into the family seat is the rising-risk signal — not raw check-in text, not peer-chat transcripts, not anything the member has not explicitly consented to share. If the member consents, you see the trajectory; if they do not, the family seat stays quiet on that member rather than showing you a partial picture.

  3. 03
    Your role in the cascade

Family is a calm supporter — Embertide is the responder chain

When a member rises, Embertide alerts the member first, then the family seat only if the member consented to the notify-family step, then the peer sponsor or counselor, then 988. You are not on the critical path. You are the relative who can have a normal phone call when everyone else is paging.

Common family concerns

The questions families actually ask before they install anything.

We have heard these in enough kitchens and parked-car phone calls to answer them straight. Every answer below is a feature, not a workaround — designed so installing Embertide does not turn the family member into a surveillance subject.

Still have one we missed? Send the question.

How to start the conversation

Have one conversation before you install anything.

The fastest way to find out whether Embertide is right for your family is to have the conversation first — what the member is willing to share, what the member is not, and what role each of you wants to play in the watch. Send us a note and we will walk you through that conversation before anything is installed or billed.
